ABOUT US

Line Sickle was developed by two avid fishermen who realized they spent a lot of wasted time scrambling to find something convenient to quickly cut fishing line, instead of using their teeth. The knife, clippers, scissors or pliers were always in the wrong shirt, fishing vest or pants pocket, or worse, all the way over there in the tackle box. And if needed by either one of us, handing or tossing the tool was time consuming and sometimes perilous.

My buddy was a denturist and one of the implements he used in his profession was a scalpel which is extremely sharp, made of stainless steel and processed to maintain a keen edge. He wondered if there was some way to attach that scalpel to the fishing rod near or on the handle. One of the patented concepts for Line Sickle was that if the blade ever became dull it could be taken out and sharpened or replaced. What a perfect answer, to say nothing about a convenient way, to cut line. After many design sketches and conversations with injection molding experts the Line Sickle came into focus as the answer to our and other anglers need.

After designing the basic unit for placement in such a strategic place on the rod I wondered if a hook sharpener could be added. It could, and is. It is custom produced by a manufacturer of a nationally distributed line of quality sharpening stones. The grooves on either side of the sharpening stone facilitate its use by right or left handed anglers. Another user benefit was generated by the flat surface on the top of the stone which will renew a dull knife blade. A small stainless steel ring in back of the stone serves as a line keeper or it can be used to attach Line Sickle to a fishing vest.

Line Sickle is made in the USA. It is unconditionally guaranteed for one year.

Line Sickle was well received in 1987 when it was introduced to the fishing industry at national equipment and sporting goods shows including Seattle, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. It has been featured in stores and catalogues nationally.
